5:00am and All's Well
I just realized my sweater is on inside out. Not used to dressing at o'dark thirty. Nonetheless, made it to Lynnwood's Best Buy and as promised, Robert Matthews, the manager, let me in before the the store opened at 5am. The manager had been there since 2:00am, helping set up the latte stand for the waiting crowds.
Speaking of which, I interviewed the first in line. 3 of them had gotten there at 5pm Thursday afternoon, a full 12 hours before opening time. There were there for the $39.99 MP3 players, among other things.
I left Best Buy 20 minutes after opening, all seemed very orderly, with plenty of staff to help shoppers increase their debt load. Here's a pre-opening pep talk:
