Barbara, a native New Yorker and banker who works in Mid-Town, stopped by Ann Taylors on her way home from work. “I’m a big shopper,” she said, with friend John describing her as “a professional.” “I love to shop for my apartment, I just bought a lamp, not that I need it. It was from Simon-Pierce, a hand blown glass store. The original is in Vermont. I also bought a bowl,” she said. “I had to buy it, they discontinued it! I mean, really!”
On her Christmas wish list? A bigger apartment for all her home shopping finds.
Barbara said her present to herself this year will be a laptop. She’s not quite sure what she will buy her parents, but said Bryant Park is a good place to shop for Christmas, where selected shops are open through January just for Christmas shopping. “I’ll probably get a fun tie for my Dad, or something like that.” Decked out in a soft pink sweater, silver hoop earrings, and lightly faded blue jeans with a caramel colored pea coat Barbara was the picture of New York sophistication. She had just returned from a Thanksgiving Dinner with family in upstate New York, bringing back home-made raspberry jelly. “It’s hard to get back to the routine of work after relaxing with friends and family all day,” she said. “But, at least Christmas is coming!”
