I Was Robbed
It happened. It was bound to occur sooner or later.
It was taken right away from me as I watched. I was in shock. But, then again, I shouldn’t have been. It happens all the time, especially around the holidays.
My parking space that I was waiting for just outside the River Oaks Shopping Center in Calumet City, Ill. was stolen by another driver. I was waiting for the strategic spot with my turn signal on, clearly showing that I was intending to occupy it. I was waiting for the on coming traffic to clear before turning when one of the on coming cars pulled in.
The first thing that came to my head was to confront the two ladies in the car. The driver looked up in the mirror and saw me motioning that I was waiting. She just shook her head no and pointed to herself and then downward as if she was entitled to the spot.
Rather than say anything I drove off and found another parking place much farther from the entrance to the mall. I always like to walk in the frigid air anyways.
I am practicing good holiday cheer. I gave my choice parking space away without a fight. It is better to give than receive, right. This is my first gift giving of the holidays and I didn’t even have to wrap it. Nothing says Happy Holidays like a cold faded parking spot just outside the mall entrance nestled between two SUV’s.
I am sure that I will be giving similar gifts throughout the season.
Happy Holidays!
