Jinky's!?! (no, not Scooby Doo) Crepes, instead...

Last Monday when I was plotting and planning my Black Friday Itinerary I met my friends for breakfast at our favorite 2nd Street cafe. Jinky's, the service is, well, you do get your food and its really good so its okay that it takes a while and you have to ask twice for tabasco. But, what intrigued me was the advertisement on the door, a print out from someone's computer inviting us back for a Pre-Shopping Breakfast.

Granola Pancakes, home-made sausage and "endless" coffee are worth having twice in one week so back I went today...

...interestingly enough, the waitress who are so elusive on a normal day were suddenly very attentive when I took out my camera to catch the action.

"Sorry, we can't have pictures taken in here," Sarah said.

"Okay, I won't take pictures, I will just talk with a few people."

"No, we are really busy, I can't allow that," she said, walking away.

So, no Jinky's. :(

Around the corner is The Creperie, they also didn't want pictures taken but they didn't mind if I interviewed the people in the front part of the restaurant.

Debbie and Liz, neighbors from Brentwood were sitting in the first booth. They had Macy's and Victoria's Secret shopping bags under their table.

They said they had come down to the mall (Santa Monica Place - see earlier posting) to buy things for themselves, taking advantage of the sales. Debbie, 41, said she is doing most of her Christmas shopping online but it was fun to get some things to wear for the holidays and for her house on sale.

Liz added that they were up early anyway because their husbands had gone golfing.

The next table was a group of three women, grandmotherly, from Ohio. They were in town to visit a sick friend. They have known each other for over 50 years. They were looking forward to doing a little shopping after breakfast to find pajamas for their friend in the hospital.

As I headed back out to the car, I passed more people, still not huge crowds but everyone seemed to have a shopping bag or two.
