The good, the bad, the ugly

Upon initial entry Target looked rather lifeless for this big shopping holiday. But once you hit up the electronics/toys section things were really hopping!

Moms, kids and grandparents alike all filled the isles of the store looking to save a buck while parts of their sanity slowly slipped away.

“Don’t touch that,” said one mother of a young girl who was trying to fiddle with an item in the carriage. “You’re going to break it just like you did your other Barbie ornament…grrr.”

And Target customers were not the only ones annoyed by the mornings’ happenings. The employees who were hard at work, in each and every isle, also found themselves to be in the same state of disgruntlement.

“It’s only 9:30,” exclaimed one sales associate. “We have already had so many people come in here and it’s still early. Today is going to be the death of us.”

For some that’s just what this day may be, one of exhaustion that seems to never end but surprisingly when it came to interaction between one another most of the shoppers and workers seemed to be in collectively good moods. Smiles were tossed around, assistance was easy to find and overall everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Unlike in the days closer to the Christmas holiday, people seemed to be out shopping because they wanted to and not because they had to.

“It’s a fun day to be out shopping,” said one consumer, “but it’s not something I could or would do on a regular basis. The way I see it you can either gripe or make the best of it…I’m making the best of it.”
