Technological Advances

After scoping out stores specializing in retail, electronics and everything in between I have come to the conclusion that the stores with the biggest crowds on Black Friday are those that sell products of technology. Not only were Best Buy, Radio Shack and Circuit City filled with swarms of people but the electronics section of Target was also the spot with the most traffic.

My take on the situation is purchasing these types of items is where you can save the most money. In addition to the fact that this is a time when a lot of new gadets are introduced and marketed to the consumer, therefore enticing them to buy, buy, buy.

Baby it’s cold outside…

Good thing it is warm in the stores.

Temperatures in the Boston area have dropped to some of the lowest we have seen since winter began but that is no stopping shoppers from venturing out. Last reading I saw was the one above, and it was only reading at 29 degrees, and still the stores still appear to be doing pretty well.

Teeth are chattering, hands are freezing but those die hard shoppers still continue on.

Khol’s was Krazy!

From the parking lot to the check out counter Kohl’s was bustling. Boasting their early bird sales, people flocked to the place to try and steal the deals.

The good, the bad, the ugly

Upon initial entry Target looked rather lifeless for this big shopping holiday. But once you hit up the electronics/toys section things were really hopping!

Don't leave empty handed!

Nearly everyone leaving a store was carrying some kind of purchase. Whether it was a pack of gum or oversized shopping bad, these shoppers were out to buy!

On the road again

Time to try some stores that are not so mall-like. One store that seems to be creating a lot of buzz is Target. An already fairly inexpensive store made all that more inexpensive on Black Friday. Khol’s, Marshall’s and Circuit City will also make the roster.

The roads appear fairly clear, although I cannot say that leaving the mall parking lot was anything but a complete zoo.

X-Box 360 SOLD OUT in Boston!

Square One Mall has approximately 10 stores that sell electronics equipment and not one of them had the Xbox 360.

Come back another day...

Seems like some stores are saving their sales for a rainy day.

Crowded

This makes online shopping much more appealing.

To good to be true!

Listening to the chatter of others, while cruising around the mall, proved to be quite interesting. Some complained about the lines, some about the early timing while others demonstrated their excitement for the day and all it entailed.

“5 Megapixels for $99...that is impossible,” explained one eager shopper who could hardly believe her eyes when reading a camera in a sales flyer. “This must be a mistake.”

But, that is the joy in Black Friday, and why so many chose to partake it in the first place, the infamous bargains. After all, if it wasn’t a steal would people really buy into this whole Black Friday thing?

"I need a bed"

Despite the excitement, the coffee and the overall thrill of the day, not everyone was up for the shopping challenge. Some were awake as ever and ready to sniff out a bargain while others wandered around like zombies waiting for it to all end.

Are they giving this stuff away for free?

After strolling through what seemed like a fairly empty mall, I finally stumbled across where all the drivers of the cars in the parking lot must have been, Best Buy.

Before even coming to the entrance of the electronics supplier you could see swarms of people headed for the narrow hallway that leads down to the store. And, once you ventured down the hall, there was no turning back.

No Vacancy

eclapp_noparkingspotsmall_w.jpg

The sun had not even risen and yet there was not a parking spot in sight!

Where is everyone?

Upon entering the Square One Mall, at the crisp hour of 5am, there was hardly a soul in sight. Well, except for the cleaning crew who, for the one time all year, were actually present during shopping hours.

Black Friday even starts too early for some businesses to open.

Empty Mall

Looks like Black Friday starts too early for some people.

And so here we are...

It’s 20 degrees outside, pitch black, and we’re all still working off yesterday’s gluttony. And what better way to work off one deadly sin than with another?

Early bird catches the worm

As the old saying goes… “The early bird catches the worm.” In the case of Black Friday it seems as if there is no time to early to catch that worm!
